Losheim Road

Losheim Road was an area in the Ardennes forest in Belgium down which lay Lanzerath and Bucholz Station.

In December 1944, during the Second World War, the area was held by the US Army. On 16 December, the Germans launched the Battle of the Bulge which began with a fierce push by tank and paratrooper units down Losheim Road.

The Eighth Doctor, Sam Jones and Fitz Kreiner were caught up in the chaos in the area and were separated. The Doctor fled with US Lieutenant Wiesniewski to Bastogne via plane. Fitz fell in with the German forces while Sam became a prisoner of the 1st SS Panzer Division.

Lanzerath, Bucholz Station and the 2nd Division's airfield all fell as the Americans in the area were overwhelmed. They retreated to form a better defensive position further to the west, leaving Losheim Road in the hands of the Germans until the offensive was defeated. (PROSE: Autumn Mist)
