From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference
- This article is for the 1964-65 season of Doctor Who; for other second seasons of other programmes, see Series 2.
The second season of Doctor Who ran between 31st October 1964 and 24th July 1965. It consisted of nine serials and 39 episodes. Milestones this season included not one but two encore appearances by the Daleks; and the departure of the original three companions, Susan Foreman, Barbara Wright and Ian Chesterton; and the first appearance of someone else from the Doctor and Susan's home planet. Amongst the black and white seasons, Season 2 has fared the best in terms of surviving episodes, with only two episodes of The Crusade missing from the archive.
