Professor Dale was a leading member of the Peace Party who had been imprisoned at the Lunar Penal Colony for protesting the war between Earth and the Draconians. He had been a faculty advisor to Patel when the latter was on the Youth Committee of the Peace Party. He and the Doctor were almost killed by Cross when they attempted to escape.
