The Great Rift Valley was located in Africa.

The Seventh Doctor took Ace to visit the Ngorogoro Crater in the Great Rift Valley in 1926. He left her there whilst he went to see Victoria Waterfield. Ace compared seeing the Great Rift Valley to being an extra in a David Attenborough programme. (PROSE: Prelude Birthright)
