A temporal feedback circuit was a component of time travel devices. The Third Doctor activated a time machine belonging to a guerrilla from an alternate 22nd century, but it shut down when the temporal feedback circuit overloaded. (TV: Day of the Daleks)

On Arcopolis, the Tenth Doctor said that ghosts could be explained as time travellers with a dodgy temporal feedback circuit. (PROSE: The Eyeless)
