The Yellow River, also known as Hwang Ho (PROSE: Marco Polo) lay along the Great Wall of Cathay. In 1289, Marco Polo's caravan travelled along the Yellow River for many miles. (TV: "The Wall of Lies") The first city on its banks was Lan-Chow. The river ran through Cathay for a "thousand leagues" before eventually depositing in the sea. (PROSE: Marco Polo)
Behind the scenes
In the novelisation of Marco Polo, the Chinese name for the river is spelt "Hwang Ho", while in the real world it is "Huáng Hé".
