On Skaro, the Daleks regarded the Zomites, a species of intelligent insects, as pests. As such, they used their gunsticks to kill them, even thanking the First Doctor, Ian Chesterton and Barbara Wright's part in doing so to the point of allowing them to leave the planet peacefully.
