Pneumonic plague was an evolution of bubonic plague. It was highly contagious and 100% fatal if not treated.

In 1933, one Chinese prisoner of the Japanese in Zhong Ma Fortress contracted pneumonic plague after the existing infection of bubonic plague spread to the lungs. (PROSE: Log 384)
