Diogenes

Diogenes was a Sinopian philosopher.

Prior to 323 BC, Alexander the Great met Diogenes and offered him a gift of gold, which Diogenes refused. When asked what gift he would rather receive, Diogenes told Alexander to move out of the way of the sun's rays, as he believed a gift from the gods was far more valuable than any gift a mere mortal could provide.
