Independence Day
You may be looking for the Doctor Who novel.

A Vortex Wraith reminded Anji Kapoor of a scene from Independence Day in which Data from Star Trek: The Next Generation was "used somewhat demeaningly as a glove puppet". (PROSE: The Slow Empire)

According to the Eleventh Doctor, events similar to those seen in Independence Day would occur in 2109. (PROSE: Heart of Stone)

Behind the scenes[[edit] | [edit source]]

Anji Kapoor's reference to "Data" in relation to the film refers to actor Brent Spiner appearing in both Star Trek: The Next Generation and Independence Day. In the film, Spiner plays a scientist whose body is "puppeted" to convey the thoughts of an alien.

Bill Pullman starred as President Thomas J. Whitmore in the film.
