Aristea was an Israelite slave during the reign of Ptolemy Lagus.

In an alternate timeline, he was part of a group of slaves that were mining gold when the First Doctor and Barbara Wright showed up. He was willing to help dig the Doctor's TARDIS out of a rockfall. (PROSE: The Book of Shadows) The Doctor had planned to visit Aristea before he left Venus, in order to acquire gold for Susan's wedding ring. (PROSE: Venusian Lullaby)
