Consular Privilege was an element of Traken's sacred law by which a consul could spare one condemned to execution and take them into their custody under their protection. The other consuls had no right to query its invocation. (TV: The Keeper of Traken)

By 1981, (TV: Logopolis) Consular Privilege had not been invoked for several generations. (PROSE: Doctor Who and the Keeper of Traken) Nonetheless, Tremas used it to save the Fourth Doctor and Adric, much to Kassia's chagrin. (TV: The Keeper of Traken)
