A quadrans was a form of Roman currency used at least in the 1st century. In 64, the First Doctor noticed a distinct lack of the local Greek currency in Byzantium, with most transactions being made in Roman coin such as quadrans, dupondius and denarit. (PROSE: Byzantium!)
