Nanking was a city in China.

According to Ian Chesterton, Nanking was, along with Peking and Shanghai, one of the "juiciest targets" for rebel groups in the east of China in 1865. (PROSE: The Eleventh Tiger)

The city gave its name to the spaceship GFS Herald of Nanking. (PROSE: The Taking of Chelsea 426, Night of the Humans)
