According to the Grand Serpent, the Alforians were sheltering dissidents on the Alforus Extant.

The Serpent wanted to form an alliance with them: five of them would be returned to them to face trial, with four other (all family members of Frey Sampor) were to become part of a "natural accident"; in return, the Alforians would be put under the protection of the Grand Serpent.
