Fungus

(TV: The Seeds of Death) The Tenth Doctor used a metal-eating fungus to destroy Baltazar's ship. (TV: The Infinite Quest)

Fungi could also be sentient. When visiting Mechanus, the First Doctor, Ian Chesterton, Barbara Wright and Vicki Pallister encountered Gubbage Cones, a race of intelligent, carnivorous fungi. (TV: The Chase)
