The Odyssey was an event in Gallifreyan history in which Patience's husband was a key figure. (PROSE: Cold Fusion, Who is Dr Who?)

Behind the scenes[[edit] | [edit source]]

  • During the publication era of the Virgin New Adventures, there was a novella fan series published by Seventh Door which was called Doctor Who: Odyssey. Lance Parkin and Mark Clapham were contributors to this series before their work with official Doctor Who, and elements from it have appeared in their work, including the foregrounding of the term "Odyssey" here. Another notable contributor was Cassandra May, to whom most of Parkin's novels from Just War to Father Time are dedicated.
  • In the real world, "odyssey" is a word for "journey" derived from the title of Homer's epic poem The Odyssey, which features Odysseus, whose Latin name is Ulysses.
