A Dalek was present on Aridius while chasing the First Doctor, Vicki Pallister, Ian Chesterton, and Barbara Wright. This Dalek was tricked by the Doctor into falling into a tunnel, allowing the TARDIS crew to escape Aridius. (TV: The Chase)
Behind the scenes
Ian's name for the Dalek, "Fred", would become the default nickname in the fandom for all Daleks that performed noteworthy feats, such as the Dalek that shot the Tenth Doctor during TV: The Stolen Earth.[source needed]
