You are exploring the Discontinuity Index, a place where any details or rumours about unreleased stories are forbidden.
Please discuss only those whole stories which have already been released, and obey our spoiler policy.

This page is for discussing the ways in which Fear Her doesn't fit well with other DWU narratives. You can also talk about the plot holes that render its own, internal narrative confusing.

Remember, this is a forum, so civil discussion is encouraged. However, please do not sign your posts. Also, keep all posts about the same continuity error under the same bullet point. You can add a new point by typing:

* This is point one.
::This is a counter-argument to point one.
:::This is a counter-argument to the counter-argument above
* This is point two.
::Explanation of point two.

... and so on.
  • The logo for the Olympics is the one used for the bid. The logo for the Olympics itself was released after the episode.
Presumably in the Doctor Who universe the original logo was retained. It's doubtful that in 2012 in the real world that anyone resembling the Doctor will light the flame either.
Does this mean the producers travelled to the future to obtain the same logo that would be used for the Olympics?
  • Despite the fact that this episode is set in Stratford in 2012, in several scenes Central Trains liveries trains are seen passing by, which have never operated through Stratford, but do operate through Cardiff, around where the episode was filmed. Indeed, Central Trains ceased to exist in 2007, replaced by three new operators.
By 2012 in the Doctor Who Universe they may have also run in London. The company could have been reformed and operated in Stratford. A lot can happen in 5 years, especially in business.
The rolling stock may have been transferred to a company operating in Stratford and not yet repainted in the new company colours. Some things are very slow in the rail industry.
  • What happened to Chloe's father after the end of this episode?
The link may have been broken after Chloe effectively defeated her father.
  • Why wasn't the Doctor shot on sight by security for even approaching the Olympic torch so closely, let alone picking it up?
Security would not shoot the Doctor as that would be an entirely pointless an unnecessary killing in front of millions of people.
Why didn't security even approach the Doctor, or prevent him continuing? He could have been a terrorist.
The Olympic Games cannot start without the torch ceremony, so stopping the Doctor would effectively be stopping the Olympics.
So, they let anyone open the Olympics?
Psychic Paper
Psychic Paper wasn't used in this scene.
  • Why didn't the Doctor go to the aid of the runner that dropped the Olympic flame? He is a Doctor. The runner may have been having a heart attack. But instead, the Doctor picks up the flame and continues running.
Ah, those humans, who cares about them when there is a torch to carry. I guess the Doctor, being a super brilliant scientist etc, was simply clever enough to tell the difference between a heart attack and something not serious.
Shame that the Doctor has become uncaring, then!
