The "Viking code'" stated that "the captain of a vessel [was] supreme"; "none may defy him for any cause". The code was enforced by the gods themselves, with Odin fulfilling any curse that a captain laid in vengeance against a mutinous crew. (COMIC: Dr. Who's Time Tales)
