Theory:Doctor Who television discontinuity and plot holes/Daleks in Manhattan

From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference
You are exploring the Discontinuity Index, a place where any details or rumours about unreleased stories are forbidden.
Please discuss only those whole stories which have already been released, and obey our spoiler policy.

This page is for discussing the ways in which Daleks in Manhattan doesn't fit well with other DWU narratives. You can also talk about the plot holes that render its own, internal narrative confusing.

Remember, this is a forum, so civil discussion is encouraged. However, please do not sign your posts. Also, keep all posts about the same continuity error under the same bullet point. You can add a new point by typing:

... and so on.
  • How can one Pig Slave get Laszlo? I image he would scream and others would come to his aid.
Maybe it got him before others could help.
  • Why not have the Pig Slaves complete the work on the mast? I'm almost certain they would get it done in the tenth of the time it took the humans to.
They are not as coordinated as Humans are, and so they couldn't do it.
  • Where do the Daleks get pig DNA from to turn humans into Pig Slaves? From a farm? There aren't really any farms around Manhattan.
It was said Diagoras was a farmer. And so he most likely had pigs, which the Daleks used.
  • The upper floors of the Empire State Building were not complete until 1933.
The Daleks have advanced technology, so would be able to finish it quicker.
They were not complete at the end of the episode.
All we know is that, this episode takes place after that newspaper was printed, and so this episode could have taken place in 1933.
  • If the Doctor only offered Martha one trip into the past and one trip into the future, as offered in Smith and Jones confirmed by him in The Lazarus Experiment, why has she been taken on this extra trip?
This is due to a deleted scene in which Martha convinces the Doctor to take a detour not a trip.
When the Doctor looks at the newspaper, he mentions this "detour".
  • The Daleks don't have fingers so how could they take Thay's panels of Dalekanium off him?
They could have used their suckers to pull them off.
Pig Slaves could have been used.
  • Why does Dalek Sec have bigger tentacles than other Daleks? And why does he have a sack-like appendage?
Dalek Sec is the leader of the Cult of Skaro, so a physical difference is not unexpected. It could very well be from preparations for the final experiment as well, it is highly unlikely a pure breed Dalek would be capable of such a metamorphosis unaltered.
In the same way that the Emperor was a different type and was different, Sec is a Supreme Dalek and therefore different also.
  • At the beginning the date is claimed to be November 1. If it is November first why are the leaves on the trees in Central Park not only green but still on the trees?
This episode takes place some time after that newspaper was printed.
  • Why is there a sewer in the theatre? The stench would render the place unusable. Not to mention I'm sure even in 1930 health and safety would have rules against that.
