Martha Malvani was the leader of an artist commune whose daughter died in a war. She was quite proud of her work there, which included making the commune self-sufficient. She showed the Third Doctor around the place. She was only at the commune as custodians because it was cheaper for the company than decommissioning it. After learning of the creatures in the sea, she wanted to blow up the rig. After what happened she became a political artist. (AUDIO: The Gulf)
