Chris McAuley wrote Curse of the Cyberons, a story initially printed in the charity Doctor Who Annual 1988 by Terraques Distributos, then given a commercial audio release by BBV Productions as part of the Cyberon series, performed by Terry Molloy.

McAuley was most famous for his part in the "StokerVerse", a franchise developed alongside Bram Stoker's descendant Dacre Stoker, designed to expand the universe of Bram Stoker's Dracula. Indeed, Curse of the Cyberons functioned as a crossover with the Dracula universe, with the Cyberons coming across a far-future version of Dracula himself, reduced to a disembodied head kept in stasis.
