Omega v Cococyte[[edit source]]

I mean, having read the story, I'm convinced. I think Canaries and The Wintertime Paradox are the relevant precedent here, even if this isn't perhaps technically Homeworld treatment since it's not 100% using the exact terms that are copied over. But it's referencing specific events, specific characters, by name, and it's public domain so there's no licensing issue here, unlike Kelsey/Ceol. I'd suggest redirecting Cococyte to Doctor Omega. Unless other people think a thread is needed. (Also I note that the story uses both Cacocyte and Cococyte, just FYI.) Najawin 03:49, 21 September 2022 (UTC)

So this story is using Doctor Omega characters but named with different names? If so, as this Wiki has made a point not to care about licensing if the unlicensed element isn't a DWU concept, I think we should consider the precedent of John Steed/Man (The Sleuth Slayers), where the latter page was merged into the former. 16:2, 21 September 2022 (UTC)
It's even clearer than that — Cococyte/Doctor Omega is the only character who's not named explicitly.
That being said, Doctor Omega is currently a page for the in-universe television series, not the character; and should probably remain separate from a page about the character himself. Also, a page about the character probably ought to be at Omega (something), unfortunately, as per Tardis:Honourifics (unless we deem him close enough to a Doctor analogue to treat "Dr. Omega" as an indivisible alias like "Dr. Who"), and that feels… suboptimal.
We also probably should consider how to deal with the implication in Republica that the Dominie and Doctor Omega are one and the same. It's much less foregrounded than Cococyte being Omega, but it's still there. Yet I don't think it would do us much good to cover Cococyte and the Dominie on the same page. Does anyone have any thoughts? Scrooge MacDuck 16:35, 21 September 2022 (UTC)
Would we need a forum thread for the honorific? Because I'd rather suggest that's important. (And technically the Cosmos also isn't named explicitly, though not a character.)
I don't know much about the Republica situation, but just glancing at the pages I think leaving things separate with hyperlinks, perhaps a "you might be looking for" seems the best bet. I'll defer to someone who's actually read the book though. I never had interest in the BBV pastiches. Najawin 19:20, 21 September 2022 (UTC)
