Stuart Humphryes
Stuart Humphryes, aka Babelcolour,[1] (born 10 December 1969[2]) is a colourisation artist best known for his work colourising monochrome Doctor Who footage. He was the artist responsible for colourising a scene from The Daleks' Master Plan for The Dalek Tapes documentary, originally released on the Genesis of the Daleks DVD in 2005 and subsequently on the Destiny of the Daleks blu-ray disc in 2022.[3] More recently he re-colourised the first episode of The Mind of Evil, released in DVD in 2013 and blu-ray in 2021[4] as well as newly discovered monochrome footage from episode one of Terror of the Zygons which was incorporated into the Director's Cut of the serial on DVD in 2013.[5]
He has written for Doctor Who Magazine with an article on Christopher Baker in DWM 564. He was thanked in the credits of DWM 462. A photo of him dressed as the fourth Doctor appeared in DWM 276. Twenty-three of his YouTube videos have been recommended in DWM's monthly WhoTube feature. Photos of his son appeared in DWM 526.
His Doctor Who-related YouTube channel Babelcolour was established on 10 August 2006. His 11th anniversary video in 2017 included contributions from Steven Moffat, John Levene, Christel Dee, David J. Howe, Clayton Hickman, Tom Spilsbury and John Guilor. His channel's other videos have included collaborations with Jon Culshaw, Jake Dudman, Wink Taylor, Christopher Thomson and Jonathon Carley. His fan film 'The Timeless Doctors', scheduled for release in 2023, includes Nicholas Briggs and Jon Culshaw with special guest appearances by Philip Hinchcliffe, Graeme Harper and George Gallaccio, reprising their roles as the Doctor 47 years after they were seen on the mind-bending screen in The Brain of Morbius.
He is thanked in the credits of WC: Farewell, Sarah Jane and WC: Pompadour.
