A mask capable of extracting and accumulating mental energy from any intelligent beings around it was once thought destroyed by the Time Lords when the Tremas Master found it.

Because it needed recharging, the Master took it to Earth, posing as wealthy eccentric Kevin Chaney, and exhibited it at various museums around the world, allowing it to begin to recharge. This caught the attention of honourable cat-burglar Black Cat Fellowes, who attempted to steal it on three occasions. The Master foiled them all and finally had him arrested on unrelated, trumped-up charges before arranging for his murder in a prison brawl. However, he left behind a daughter, Tabby, who wasted no time in trying to honour her father's memory by finishing his last heist. As she tried to reach the mask, she bumped into Stan, a field agent of the Celestial Intervention Agency, and they teamed up to recover the mask. They were briefly confronted by the Master, who put on the mask, but, using his own ultrasonic induction gun, Tabby forced him to take it off before he could use it to kill Stan and ultimately conquer Gallifrey. After the Master fled, Stan recovered the mask and took it safely back to his superiors on Gallifrey. (PROSE: Tabby Cats And Time Lords)
