Storm (Millennial Rites)
The Valeyard was aware that there was "a violent storm approaching" in the Sixth Doctor's relative future, which would tear apart time and space. Indeed, by the end of this incarnation, the Doctor began to hear whispers across the galaxy that a major shift was occurring at the pinnacle of reality which would soon be felt by everyone throughout the cosmos, reflecting the quote "things fall apart, the centre cannot hold."
The Valeyard believed that the Menti Celesti were gathering their Champions to influence this storm, and that Time's Champion would soon need to make difficult decisions to save reality. Time's Champion would face Death's Champion during this prophesized event. (PROSE: Millennial Rites)
Behind the scenes[[edit] | [edit source]]
- Originally written as a reference to Craig Hinton's unwritten novel Cascade, this "storm" features in the plot of Time's Champion, where it is referred to as "The Breakdown". This storm is a process stemming from the domain of the Menti Celesti which begins to destroy the multiverse in a manner similar to the destruction of the Great Old Ones' universe.
- Hinton's opinions on the "storm" adapted to fit the continuity of the BBC Eighth Doctor Adventures, with the finished Time's Champion establishing that the Breakdown is part of the War in Heaven and that if it were to run its course it would create the grey universe.
