Ranjit Singh
Professor Ranjit Singh taught Theoretical Physics at St Oscar's University.

Singh once published a paper on what he termed "Singh's Collapser Conjecture". According to Farouk, the paper made St Oscar's a laughing stock for a time. He maintained, however, that his research was valid. (PROSE: Oh No It Isn't!)
Perfecton[[edit] | [edit source]]
In 2593, Singh joined the St Oscar's expedition to Perfecton and argued with Warrinder after he claimed to have seen the destruction of the Winton in a dream but did not tell them. He later argued with Farouk over a puzzle in symbolic logic and with Menlove Stokes after he switched off a Perfecton gun. After working out what the Perfecton gun did, he proposed that they call it the "Singh Farouk effect" and recognised how it could revolutionise space travel and power generation. Farouk disagreed with the name.
Singh theorised that the Perfectons went into another dimension and hit Thooo with a rolling pin when he thought that he was attacking Stokes. He volunteered to be taken by the Grel in Stokes's place, saying that he was an expert scientist and thus far more useful. The Grel Master, however, wanted Stokes precisely because he was useless to them. He later helped fight the Grel and apologised to Warrinder for how he had treated him. The academics were saved from the planet by the Winton, restored thanks to Bernice Summerfield. (PROSE: Oh No It Isn't!)

Malkovitch Fellows decided to prove Singh's Collapsar Conjecture by verifying the axionic dark-matter hypothesis to irritate Farouk. After the paradox of the Spire, Singh and Farouk both "tor[e] their hair out" over the mathematics. (PROSE: Ghost Devices)

Singh took a rolling pin with him on the expedition with the intention of making dough for unleavened bread as a friendly gesture to the other academics. Instead, he spent most of his time on Perfecton arguing with them, especially Warrinder, whose discipline he had never respected. He could speak Urdu. (PROSE: Oh No It Isn't!)
