Simon Wicker
Simon Wicker is a digital matte painter who was credited on several episodes in series 3 and 4 of the BBC Wales version of Doctor Who. He shared a prestigious Visual Effects Society award with Charlie Bennett, Tim Barter and Arianna Lago for their matte paintings on Silence in the Library. Their win was the first for the Doctor Who visual effects team, after several failed nominations.
He was featured on Doctor Who Confidential in the episode that accompanied Daleks in Manhattan.
By 2014, Simon Wicker worked for Milk VFX. Murray Barber identified him as their "main matte painter",[1] and he became the head of their digital matte painting department.[2]
In 2017, Wicker created the environment for Villengard, in Twice Upon a Time, with his team.[3]
Wicker's career extends back to the late 1990s, and has included work on Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones, Band of Brothers, Harry Potter and the Prizoner of Azkaban, Tomb Raider: Cradle of Life and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest.
