In the 19th century, Walter Simeon's mother urged him to play with the other boys, noting that his solitary nature was unhealthy. He ignored her pleas, declaring that he didn't need anyone else. She was not present whwn the Great Intelligence first took over a snowman to communicate with the young Walter. (TV: The Snowmen)
