Michael McCarthy, born 1942, was born in Wimbledon, London, UK. He provided the studio sound for the Doctor Who television stories Terror of the Zygons, The Invisible Enemy and The Sun Makers. He is most well known for creating the voice of K9. He is also a two-time BAFTA winner, in 1981 for The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy , and in 1983, for, Grace Kennedy, The Two Ronnies, and Three of a Kind, respectively. He has also worked on Steptoe and Son and Dad's Army.

Personal Life

He married Judith McCarthy at some point in the 1960s, and had their first child, Alison, in 1969. Two years later, they had twins David and Graham. He has four grandchildren: Leo, Tessa, Cameron, and Olivia ('Livvy').
