A Letter from the Doctor was a short story printed in DWM 12, an instalment in the then-ongoing A Letter from the Doctor series. The short narrative was presented in the form of a letter "written" by the Fourth Doctor to an unspecified audience (implicity the readers of Doctor Who Weekly).
The story was actually written by Dez Skinn, a fact he kept concealed for many years until he revealed it on his website.[1]
Plot
The Doctor sends a letter which he expects its audience to read between Christmas and the beginning of the New Year's Day festivities. He reveals that he has just been to three New Year's Day parties in a row in the space of one subjective week, and wishes everyone "happy time and places".

Notes
- This story gestures at the unreliable nature of the figures given by the Doctor about their own age; at one point he describes himself as "over 750 years old", but a few sentences later, simply describes himself as "750 years old".
- By having the Doctor specify that he is a "native Gallifreyan Time Lord", this story was one of the earliest sources to imply that there could be such things as non-Gallifreyan Time Lords.
