Roy Castle (31 August 1932-2 September 1994[1]) played Dr. Who's companion Ian in the film Dr. Who and the Daleks.

Career[[edit] | [edit source]]

He had a long career on British television, but will be best remembered for presenting the children's television show Record Breakers, on which Castle himself broke several world records.

As an actor, he appeared in films such as Dr. Terror's House of Horrors and Carry On Up the Khyber. He also teamed up with Ronnie Barker to play Laurel and Hardy impersonator Sydney Jefferson in "Another Fine Mess", an episode of Seven of One. Towards the end of his life, he was an avid campaigner to ban smoking in public places and was awarded an OBE in 1992.
