Herr Schmidt was an interpreter in Nazi Germany. At 9:00 am on Sunday, 3 September 1939, he accompanied Joachim von Ribbentrop to Adolf Hitler's office in the Reichschancellery, bearing the United Kingdom's ultimatum threatening war unless Germany's invasion of Poland was halted within two hours. Schmidt read the ultimatum to Hitler, in the presence of the Seventh Doctor ("Johann Schmidt"). Angered by the news, Hitler yelled Schmidt and Ribbentrop out the room. (PROSE: Timewyrm: Exodus)
