William Hughes (12 May 1998-9 July 2018 in Corfu, Greece[1][2]) played the Master as an eight-year-old in the Doctor Who television stories The Sound of Drums and Last of the Time Lords (footage of this performance was later included in the Doctor Who story The End of Time).

Although Hughes was not credited in these stories, Question 13 in the Ultimate Doctor Who Fan Quiz: The Master Edition[3] asked: "Who is the youngest actor to have played the Master?" and the correct answer was: "William Hughes is the youngest actor to have played the Master." (The questions for the quiz were proposed by fans, but it was BBC who made the final selection.[4])

Hughes also played Alex Grainger in the Torchwood television story Sleeper.
