About merge suggestion

Merge to "Paradise Towers (series)" has been suggested. I suggest merge happen in opposite direction (from "(series)" TO "(comic series)") because the television Paradise Towers "was the second serial of season 24" and some could confuse "series" with "serial". i.e. Paradise Towers (comic series) is more clear article title. Yeah, this is a smart concern and welcome input, but unfortunately I don't think the suggestion helps us here for the reason Najawin noted. Hopefully the fact that the dab term for Paradise Towers (TV story) is (TV story) rather than (serial) ameliorates the potential confusion.

When I proposed the merger, the cases I had in mind were Iris Wildthyme (series) and Faction Paradox (series), which both include Obverse Books anthologies as well as stories in other mediums. – n8 (☎) 21:23, 13 September 2022 (UTC)

I know next to nothing about this subject, but I was wondering if a new dab term might be useful for such a situation. Something like "multimedia" or "multimedia project" or even "multimedia series". Other franchises do multimedia projects, so it wouldn't surprise me if DW has more of these in the future. Shambala108 ☎ 03:37, 14 September 2022 (UTC)

I mean, the only real issue is the confusion between the serial and the series. Ostensibly there's no confusion with Faction Paradox (series) or Time Lord Victorious (series). Obviously we can change the dab term, but the reasoning here just seems to be putting the cart before the horse. Especially since we could always do a "you might be looking for" template rather than a DAB page if we consolidate the series pages, making it easier for people to get to the original serial. I'm going to go ahead with the merger of these. I acknowledge EarthFurst's concern, but Najawin has also cited precedence with other multi-media serieses. And as Shambala108 says if it's needed we can pursue a different dab term in future.

For the moment we need this series under one page so it's clear which one that should be edited / linked to. A future dab term for series like this is another problem, but one that (once these pages are merged) can be fixed with a simple move. --Tangerineduel / talk 05:44, 6 February 2023 (UTC)
