You are exploring the Discontinuity Index, a place where any details or rumours about unreleased stories are forbidden.
Please discuss only those whole stories which have already been released, and obey our spoiler policy.

This page is for discussing the ways in which Revenge of the Slitheen doesn't fit well with other DWU narratives. You can also talk about the plot holes that render its own, internal narrative confusing.

Remember, this is a forum, so civil discussion is encouraged. However, please do not sign your posts. Also, keep all posts about the same continuity error under the same bullet point. You can add a new point by typing:

* This is point one.
::This is a counter-argument to point one.
:::This is a counter-argument to the counter-argument above
* This is point two.
::Explanation of point two.
::Further discussion and query of point two.

... and so on.
She might have moved school/house, or just simply stopped keeping in touch with Maria.
Macra have appeared in Earth's past (during the classic series of Doctor Who), and seeing that Mr. Smith is an amazing super-knowledge 'Xylok, why not? Also, Abaddon and The Beast have existed before appearances in Doctor Who and Torchwood, so there is a chance he/it picked up information from the events.
  • The speed of light is still not enough for the effect of the Sun being drained to be instant, it would take days, if not weeks for the sun to "go out".
Maybe the Slitheen also turned out all light from the sun, thus causing light still travelling to us to also be turned off.
Plus, it only takes just over eight minutes for light to travel from the Sun to the Earth. Maybe there is an eight-minute gap between the Slitheen 'switching off the Sun' and the scene where we see the Sun actually 'go out'.
  • If the Slitheen's device absorbed all nearby energy, shouldn't the various types of energy (electrical, chemical, heat etc.) in living organisms be absorbed too?
It wasn't all drained at once. Perhaps the sun had the most energy and was 'weak' to the tech and was absorbed first.
  • Mr. Smith brings up a world map before Sarah-Jane says it.
He might have been monitoring her brain patterns and predicted that she would ask for one.
It could be some form of evolution or maybe the Slitheen family are made up of different species who are made up of different substances (like how humans have different blood types).
We're given the impression that the Slitheen and Blathereen are the same species. The species is divided into different families, like the Slitheen or the Blathereen, as mentioned above. We also notice that the Slitheen (The Nightmare Man) and the Slitheen-Blathereen (The Gift), who are part Blathereen, are made from the same substance, just different colors. I think the behind the scenes people just threw whatever they could find at them. In WWIII, it looks like food is thrown at them. In this episode it's green jelly. In the two SJA episodes mentioned above, it's a liquid substance.
It could also be due to the differences between the specific vinegar used and the temperature at the time.
  • When Luke said what he did about the fact that the machine would explode if it took in energy from the sun, was he making it up? It would've been a good idea as it did allow him to get close to the machine, but he apparently did not know what a bluff is so I'm not sure about whether he could've actually lied either.
Sparks could be seen flying out of the machinery, and lightning bolts could be seen covering it, it was clearly about to explode. He wasn't making it up.
  • After Sarah Jane and the others stopped the Slitheen, she called UNIT about the machines in all the schools to get them dealt with. How long did this take because there were ten schools the Slitheen had taken over so wouldn't it have taken a while to deal with it? (I know UNIT's a worldwide organisation, but still.) I mean, wouldn't this have led to all the schools closing for a few days while it was all dealt with? (I don't know about you, but it would've brought up a lot of questions about why there were soldiers in the schools.)
  • I get that the schools would've had substitutes cover the missing teachers (the Slitheen who killed them and inhabited their bodies having either been killed themselves or retreated and left Earth), but Blakeman was a headteacher. Who took over his roles as the head after he "disappeared"? (Considering Haresh stated himself as Blakeman's replacement in The Day of the Clown which happened a year after this one took place.)
As someone who works in a school, I imagine that one of the deputy heads would have covered the headmaster's duties whilst they looked for a replacement.
