Thornton was an engineer on Xirrinda. He helped the Eleventh Doctor drive the monorail to the safety of Ortagon City, away from the Rain of Terror. When a few of the creatures were found on the train, he helped to blow it up, but was bitten. (PROSE: Rain of Terror)
