It's not a blonde moment, because the button doesn't exist here at Tardis. you can only turn it on and off by going to (virtually) any other wiki. Here's how to do it.

  1. Go to w:c:community:Special:Preferences
  2. Hit the tab marked Editing
  3. Toggle the first option under "Editing experience". It should read "Enable visual editor (where available)
  4. Done

The deal is that this language is actually referring to the old Visual Editor, sometimes known as the "Rich Text Editor" or "RTE". Since, ultimately, the new VE will replace the old VE, the devs have temporarily combined the operation of both VEs into the one button. When the old VE gets phased out, this button will, I suspect, be turned on at Tardis, and you won't have to do this workaround.

We're having to take this additional step because there are so few wikis that have actually voted the old VE off their reservations that it's an inefficient use of Wikia's staff time to make an exception for us and the handful of other wikis where VE doesn't exist.

I don't think it would be a good idea to remove the Rich Text Editor, due to the fact the new editor is very slow on old computers and Thanks for the help, CzechOut!
