Howling:Turn left
Turn Left
I was just wondering about Donna's world seen in turn left. Turn left was a really good story, but there were just too many plotholes and things that didn't makes sense about donna's world. Take the following in Donna's world right the doctor was meant to have died before he met martha because donna wasn't there to stop him, so no doctor to foil all those really nasty things that happened on earth we get chaos and eventually a reality bomb, sounds fine. But only thing is there should not be any reality bomb, the only reason Caan went back to get Davros was because he was the last of his kind, and the only reason he was the last of his kind was because the tenth doctor stopped his plans when he was with martha [after he died in donna's world] So in donna's world there should have been no doctor and martha to stop the final experiment in the 1930's and therefore it would have gone ahead as planned. Also as has been pointed out the doctor saved the earth lots of times in the past when he was with martha and donna, so there should be no modern earth anyway. For instance if rose is able to cross reality's in Donna's world the cybus cybermen should still be able too they should have built the cyberking back in victorian england and conquered the earth back then. Some people have claimed that the trickster stopped all of these invasions but I dont think that explains everything, for instance suppose it was the trickster that stopped the cult of skaro back in 1930's new york, then there still would be no reality bomb, its doubtful that only caan would escape again, plus the trickster would probaly make sure that caan couldn't back and rescue Davros. There is also the question of would the trickster be able to stop the daleks or those other monsters, I mean do you think the trickster could foil the daleks even just four of them, or the cybermen, even looking at it from a production point of view do you think they would have the main villain from the spin off series able to hurt the main villains from the main franchise. Plus suppose there is a reality bomb in donna's world then where are the Daleks I never understood why the stars were meant to be going out but the earth hadn't been snatched. There is no reason for the daleks not to steal Donna's world, it's actually easier to steal than regular earth, for instance no doctor on that world, no Jack or torchwood, most of the world's greatist defenses weakned or destroyed, there is only rose and donna who really lets be honest wouldn't be able to stop the daleks. I personally think that it was not the Daleks at all in Donna's world. I know at the time they made it, it obviously was, thoguh i still don't undrstand how a continuity heavy story like turn left could have such massive discontinuity. I think that perhaps now they will explain it as being because of the cracks. Think about it if it was the cracks instead of the reality bomb everything would make sense. The cacks wipe out events right, so they could easily have just wiped out the cyberking and the cult of skaro in manhatten, like they did in our universe, it could also have taken care of all those other invasions and things that don't make sense like how certain events happened but others didn't, the cracks ate certain planets and events but not others, the cracks could even have got the adipose planet and thats why they were there. As far as we know the cracks could still exist in donna's world, unlike the reality bomb. The cracks would also be able to run rampant too as the tenth doctor would be dead so there would be no eleventh doctor to stop them from destroying everything, which he is obviously gonna do in the season finale. So it could be the cracks that were destroying everything not the reality bomb, that would also explain why it was the stars that were going out as some people have pointed out that we see arent actually there they are from millions of years ago, the cracks could consume them as it could travel back in time and get them.Probably just a wild theory but let me know what you think and if you do have any theories to explainaway those big plotholes in Turn left let me hear them. The Trickster can stop all alien invasions and turn them away, allowing Earth to still exist foir the Doctor to be killed in the 21st century at Christmas. The reason the Turn Left world was affected by the reality bomb was because every single parallel universe was affected by it. In the Turn Left world, there was no reality bomb or Earth-stealing, but the reality bomb itself affected every parallel via the Medussa Cascade. Delton Menace 09:02, May 18, 2010 (UTC)
The bomb was stopped in the main reality though so it shouldn't be affecting the stars in donna's world. Plus wasn't Donna's world meant to be the real world but with history changed, thats why she had to go back and fix everything If it was just some reality but the main one still existed, then why bother to go back and stop the bomb. - Presumably, this is one of those differences between merely "parallel" and "alternate" timelines in the Whoniverse.
- Parallel timelines are natural branches. Donna could have turned left or right, and there could be two different parallel universes as a result, but all that matters is that the one that had the Reality Bomb also had the Doctor to stop it, so everything's fine.
- But alternate timelines are caused by time travelers monkeying about with history. The Trickster actually changed history, so that the timeline where Donna saved the Doctor--the one with the Reality Bomb in it--was changed into the alternate timeline where she never met him. So now there is a timeline with a Reality Bomb but no Doctor to stop it, and it needs to be "fixed" by undoing the Trickster's change. --Falcotron 22:31, May 20, 2010 (UTC)
- Since every possibilty is played out in the multiverse there has to be at least one universe where the Doctor failed to stop Davros and the Reality Bomb detonated. Therefore Donna's world could have been affected. Unfortunately this theory also means that the main reality would have been destroyed as well, along with the rest of the multiverse. Problems like this always come up when the multiverse is involved, and unfortunately there's no real way for the writers to get around them. Burnup15 12:07, May 21, 2010 (UTC)
- We could always assume multiverse theory only applies to a limited extent. Complex space-time events surrounding the LGTW could mean post-9th Doc events only occur in a limited number of a near infinite number of universes. Cannon881 20:44, May 21, 2010 (UTC)
