Henry Mortimer was the husband of Maddie Mortimer and father of Mary and George.

Biography[[edit] | [edit source]]

Henry fought in World War II and suffered from PTSD afterwards. He married Maddie Mortimer and lived with her at Hideaway, where he hired Mr Finnemore as his valet-cum-butler. The Mortimers had two children, Mary and George.

When Henry found out that Maddie was having an affair with Nicole, he dismissed Nicole and intended to hire a new lady's maid. He came to believe that Maddie and River Song were having an affair and planning on killing him, so he fired at River with her echo gun. Maddie jumped in the way, however, and River let him believe that she had died and made him wear the key to the room in which he attacked her, telling him to get help for his PTSD, to hire her as Thomas Mortimer's governess in 1962 and to give her the key on Easter Sunday in 1963.

Henry told Mary and George that their mother had run away, an explanation which the community accepted due to their notoriously difficult marriage. He told Mary that she should hire River and kept his distance from her per her future self's instructions. He gave the key to her after she saved Thomas's life in 1963 and asked that she use her vortex manipulator in front of him so he could be sure that she was gone.

Henry had died by 1988. (AUDIO: Friend of the Family)
