One-off companion status?

When someone travels in the TARDIS with the Doctor, aren't they generally accorded companion status, at least in the broad sense? --Kudzu1 20:46, May 22, 2010 (UTC)

Agreed. I'll look at how some of the "disputed companions" are referenced and try to do the same for her. --Falcotron 05:08, May 23, 2010 (UTC)
OK, I added the template and category to this article, added her to Template:Companions of the Eleventh Doctor, and added her to List of companions in the "disputed companions" section. I hope that's all that's needed. --Falcotron 05:19, May 23, 2010 (UTC)
Huh? Tons of people travel in the TARDIS briefly. Romulus and Remus (I think), a ton of people in Earthshock (including a Cyberman), the Graske in Music of the Spheres, the Master in the end of series 29 and probably at other times. Are they all companions too? Generally, short hops like that aren't counted. --Golden Monkey 05:44, May 23, 2010 (UTC)
The problem is, there's no actual official definition of "companion". That's why there's such a thing as "disputed companions" in the first place.
Someone doesn't have to travel in the TARDIS to be a companion, and traveling in the TARDIS doesn't automatically make you a companion, but there is some connection.
Enemies who stow away in or invade the TARDIS generally aren't counted. But people who assist the Doctor throughout the story, and are invited into the TARDIS for a trip, usually make the list. Hell, even The Viewer made the list. --Falcotron 06:15, May 23, 2010 (UTC)
I see that you reverted two of the three changes I made. Let's get a consensus here before reverting anything. It seems to me that listing her is more consistent with the rest of the site than not. --Falcotron 07:02, May 23, 2010 (UTC)
