Mary Lethbridge married William Stewart in 1603, becoming Mary Lethbridge-Stewart and beginning the Lethbridge-Stewart family. (PROSE: The Daughters of Earth)
Mary and her brother Peter Lethbridge were the children of the Baronet of Jacaobstowe in Devon, Sir John Lethbridge. They attended the coronation of the King in 1603, which was where she met, and shortly after married, William Stewart. Mary had one child, Henry John Lethbridge-Stewart, but died in childbirth. (PROSE: The Soothsayer) Peter's descendants begat John Lethbridge who became the first Lethbridge Baronet.[source needed]
