Andrea Carlisle

From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference

Major Andrea Carlisle worked aboard Moonbase Diana.

In 2010, Base Diana was invaded by Talerians who began mindwiping the crew. The victims were turned into mindless Blanks who would then be suitable to receive an uploaded Talerian consciousness beamed from their homeworld of Taleria. Professor Charles Jackson was the first to undergo this process, however, the second victim, Liz Didbrook, received a botched transferal and was able to partially hold onto her memories. By the time Carlisle realised anything was amiss most of the crew, including: Nurse Phillips and Captains Jim Reeve and Marty Garrett, had already been mindwiped. Didbrook attempted to draw attention to this fact by sabotaging the Base's quantum displacement equipment that allowed them to pass from the moon to Texas in mere moments. This act left two humans, Donald Babinger and Becky Starmer, dead and Garrett abandoned back on Earth.

The Eleventh Doctor and Amy Pond arrived on Base Diana having learned about the mysterious deaths and they soon began to unravel the mystery. However, Jackson and Phillips got to Carlisle first and attempted to put her through the mindwipe process but it failed due to a power outage. Despite the process having failed, Carlisle could still here a Talerian trapped inside her consciousness and used this to her advantage by tricking the others into thinking the process had been successful and she was one of them. Her first attempt at helping Amy after she was taken prisoner by Reeve was unsuccessful, but she later managed to help the Doctor and a mindwiped Amy escape.

She followed the Doctor's instructions to make sure all of the sprinkler systems were active which enabled him to disperse all of the mindwiped human's consciousnesses back into their true host by absorbing them through their skin. When the Talerians set a backup army to attack the Base, Carlisle teamed up with the newly resurrected crew to battle against them. The Talerians died after a window was broken and their fragile bodies couldn't handle the pressure change. The Doctor and Amy left Carlisle and the others on Base Diana to clean up the mess, but he returned to Base Hibiscus to give them instructions on building a rocket that would save the remaining crew.
