Vulcan salute
The Doctor performs a Vulcan salute. (TV: Fear Her)

The Vulcan salute originated in the television series Star Trek. (PROSE: Doctor Who: The Encyclopedia) The Tenth Doctor showed Chloe Webber that he could do a Vulcan salute to charm her, but it failed and Chloe was more frightened than ever because she did not understand that the Isolus was inhabiting her body. She later returned the salute as a way of telling the Doctor that she was willing to talk to him. (TV: Fear Her)
