why do the Sontarans need clone worlds?

If Sontar was destroyed in the 25th or 26th century then why is it claimed that the Sontarans were looking for clone worlds in the 21st century? ~Crainun~

Planet of Sontar vs General Sontar

I don't know how much of an issue this is, but perhaps the Sontaran race was named after the General, and then either founded a new homeworld and called it Sontar, or renamed their existing homeworld Sontar. I'm new here, but I got the impression that such conjecture was permitted to be included in italics within articles, if it's reasonable. Is that right?
