Rice pudding was available in tins in Earth in the 1970s. (PROSE: Rags) In the 1980s tinned rice pudding remained available and was one of many canned items the Seventh Doctor searched through while in Perivale looking for items to attract cats with. (PROSE: Survival)

During the Shoreditch Incident, the Seventh Doctor facetiously suggested that the Emperor Davros and his Imperial Daleks sought "unlimited rice pudding". (TV: Remembrance of the Daleks) The Seventh Doctor again repeated this phrase when he was on Iphigenia and his mind was scrambled by a probability intercession.
