Ray Hunter
Sergeant, later Captain Ray Hunter was a member of Dainty Company, a platoon of American troops stationed in Westbourne during World War II. After an encounter with the Fourth Doctor, Leela, and Margaret Hopwood, who were supposed to be travelling "incognito," in vague terms, Ray Hunter learned of Dainty Company's important actions during the war, actions he had yet to commit. Later, he recieved a letter from Margaret Hopwood calling him to Ravencliff, in a bootstrap paradox, as Margaret had yet to send the letter. Travelling from America to Ravencliff in a grand gesture, he assisted The Doctor and Leela in an effort to rescue Margaret from an inbetween-place, but found himself trapped in said dimension with Margaret. Because the dimension was based upon Margaret's own thoughts, Ray was able to keep the Halfway Men at bay by making Margaret's life comfortable and cooking for her each evening. They began to forge a relationship. When the Doctor arrived there to rescue Margaret, he informed them that due to the nature of the time anomaly, the only way to rescue Margaret would be to stop her from ever entering the dimension in the first place - thus meaning they would forget all their time together.
