Mikhail Kalashnikov

Mikhail Kalashnikov was a Russian military engineer who designed the AK-47 rifle, a popular weapon in the 20th century. Although he worked on rifles and tanks, he said he always wanted to design tractors.

Just before his death, he wrote a letter to his church. He wrote that his soul was in pain, and that he finally realised the true nature of his legacy.

The Eighth Doctor compared Professor Markus Schriver, whose work led to the creation of the Eminence, to Kalashnikov. (AUDIO: Masterplan)
