The Voting Booth was a booth used by the citizens of the Starship UK to give their own views on the ship's history and situation. People over the age of sixteen were allowed to vote once every five years. Outside the booth, there was a sign above the door stating whether the booth was in use or empty. The booth used some sort of technology to determine who a person was, and had records on date of birth and marriage status, where possible. The computer would not allow non-human voting.

After viewing a video on the history of the ship, voters were given the choice to forget what they saw and go on living, or protest to the running of the ship. Those who chose to forget were allowed to record a short video to themselves. They then had around fifteen minutes of their memory removed, including all their knowledge of the video. If a person chose to protest, they were fed to the beast.
